I suppose I'm a bit late on this one...

How to Be Kurt Cobain for Halloween

Halloween gives both kids and adults the chance to dress up as anything they want and have a fun time. Many people choose to dress up as celebrities or rock stars. A Kurt Cobain costume is one of the easiest Halloween costumes to come up with, and takes very little work to put together.

Difficulty: Easy

Instructions

Step 1:
Begin by searching for and choosing the right wig (unless your hair is the right length). For most of his time in the spotlight, Kurt had shoulder-length dirty blond hair. He colored his hair a shade of red for a time, as well. He also had slightly shorter hair for a period of time. Consult pictures of Kurt (see Resources below) to find the exact hair style you want.

Step 2:
Find a pair of jeans with holes in them. You could always just cut holes in a pair of jeans tat you already own. It's important to note that the jeans shouldn't be designer, though, as that wasn't Kurt's style at all.

Step 3:
Buy either a green “grandpa” sweater or a long-sleeve striped (horizontal) shirt. Kurt was known for wearing these, especially during the famous MTV Unplugged performance. Consult pictures from that event to find the exact color and then go to a local thrift store to pick one of these up.

Step 4:
Wear a pair of low-top tennis or skater shoes. If you can find or you own a pair that is beat up, that would be even better.

Step 5:
Stencil a goatee on your face. Kurt Cobain didn't always have facial hair while in Nirvana so this isn't something that you have to do.

Step 6:
Grab an acoustic guitar and play some of the songs from the MTV Unplugged performance throughout the evening. Luckily, these songs are relatively easy to play on guitar. If nothing else, learn how to play “About a Girl,” one of the easiest Nirvana songs to play.

Kurt Cobain Done Been Shitted On

SO, I would like to echo the dismay expressed by Jesse's Kranzler concerning the lack of respect shown to the man on this blog on this Monday. I'm not pointing any fingers, but Magical Fuckers fucked up. Let's not let that happen again, cus in a world where Kurt Cobain is allowed to be forgotten, cake eaters like Eddie Vedder win.

Secondly (and much more seriously), I don't know if any fans of the game known as "Guitar Hero 5" read this blog, but if you do own said video game, and are reading this, I would like to strongly urge you to take to the mothafuckin' streets and murder/burn/fuck that game and the despicable cake eaters who made it in the face.

In this game, you can "unlock" an avatar of Kurt Cobain, which will then digitally perform horrendous shit such as, but not limited to, Flava Flav, Bush, and Jon Bon Jovi's seminal illustration of how mindless and soulless music can possibly be; "Shot Through The Heart." Having the digital likeness of Cobain "perform" songs that are diametrically opposed to everything he represented and believed in is a horrendous disservice to the memory of an awesome musician, person, and Captain of Policing Cake. Courtney Love is trying to get this shit recalled, even though she may or may not have authorized said shit in the first place, so lets all cross our fingers and hope the forces of good prevail.

Also, lets do our part to combat this historical revisionist bastardization and keep Nirvana Mondays alive from now on. K?

So you know what I'm taking about:
